1. FEATURES AND SPECIFICATIONS

The Nautilus Intelligent Battery Guard is special designed for boat battery with unique water proof technology. It continually monitors the boat battery charge, and automatically disconnects the battery from the electricity system if it detects that the power is falling below the level that is required to start the engine. Press and release reset button of the supplied remote control,  or press and release the yellow manual reset knob on the top of the unit to reconnect the power.

The boat operator can disconnect the load from the battery by the remote control after parking the boat the unit then becomes an anti-theft device.

2. INSTALLATION

Tools Required

One open-end 17mm and one adjustable wrench, standard and Phillips screwdrivers.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Unscrew removable protective cap on the top of the unit and turn the ON/OFF yellow knob to the “ON” position  

Step 2: Disconnecting The Battery Cables

A)  Disconnect the black negative cable from the negative post on the battery.
B)  Disconnect the red positive cable from the positive post on the battery.

Step 3: Connecting the Intelligent Battery Guard

A:  Connect the Positive Clamp set on the positive side of the Intelligent Battery Guard, the
      positive side of the Intelligent Battery Guard is located on the side of the unit that has 12V+
      printed on it.
B:  Connect the Aluminum Positive Post set on the other side of the Intelligent Battery Guard.
C:  Connect the positive clamp onto the battery.

Note: The positive cable must not come into contact with the ACC clip.

Now let's find an appropriate configuration option for the Intelligent Battery Guard. Battery location and position differ depending on the boat, the Intelligent Battery Guard can be configured for various top mounting, side mounting, and chassis installations (see below).

A:  Connect the red/positive battery cable to the aluminum post on the outer bracket of the
      Intelligent Battery Guard.
B:  Connect the black negative battery cable to the negative post on the battery.
C:  Connect the clip end of the black ground wire to the clamp bolt on the negative post on the
      battery.

Step 4: Accessory Bypass Wire Installation

A.  Slide the connecter end of the Bypass wire onto the Butterfly Connector On the female positive
      post of Intelligent Battery Guard.
B.  Locate the motor's fuse box and the desired fuse.
C.  Remove the fuse and insert it into the fuse connection in the bypass wire.
D.  Connect the exposed end of the bypass wire into the outbound leg of the fuse box to
      activate the device.

Step 5: Disabling connection/motor on wire installation 

A.  Locate a fuse in the fuse box that has current when the motor is turned on and no current
     when the motor is turned off. This wire can be connected directly to the key switch.
B.  Remove fuse.
C.  Connect the exposed end of the bypass wire into the fuse box.
D.  Slide the connector end of the bypass wire onto the single connector on the negative side
     of the Intelligent Battery Guard. The connector is marked “ACC”.

3. TEST INSTALLATION RESULT

To test successful installation
Start the boat after installation is completed.

To test Intelligent Battery Guard Operation
Turn the Vehicle off and turn on as many electrical accessories (i.e. lights, radio,) as possible and leave them on. The intelligent Battery Guard will cut power form the battery automatically confirming it is working. This may take some time, depending on the battery's age and charge.

To test the manual rest control function
Ensure that the yellow Manual reset control knob is in the “ON” position and press it down after the Intelligent Battery Guard had disconnected the power(to rest) . The unit should re-establish power to the electrical accessories and enable you to start the boat.

Remote control instructions and test:
Let's introduce all buttons & functions of the remote control unit and test the functions:

1.  Lock Symbol button – Disconnect.  Press and hold this button for 2 seconds in order to
     disconnect power between the boat and the battery. The unit then becomes an antitheft
     device and the boat could not start.
2.  Unlock symbol button – Reconnect. Press and hold the reset button for 2 seconds in
     order to reconnect the unit and start the boat.
